Borana Conservancy in Laikipia Kenya is part of a 90,000 acre Rhino Sanctuary area on the north eastern slopes of Mt Kenya. Wildlife abounds from the endangered black and white rhino to the diminutive Gunther’s dik-dik along with a multitude of birds. Guests may stay at Borana Lodge in comfortable, stylish accommodation with excellent farm fresh cuisine.

Borana is proud to be a member of the Long Run. One of the world’s largest sustainable development initiatives led by nature-based businesses.

In 2020 Borana Lodge was granted The Long Run’s prestigious GER® Status. The GER® standard is considered to be ‘one of the world’s best standards for privately protected areas’. It is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and is one of the most rigorous  sustainability audits in the hospitality industry. It takes into account every aspect of the 4Cs; Community, Culture, Conservation and Commerce and is not only about businesses mitigating their negative environmental impact, but about positively impacting the well-being of the planet and people.

The conservancy offers a landscape designed for riding horses, however there are also many other activities for families and non-riders as well, including a night under canvas in a light-weight camp.
